Regina Ceragioli is a lyric soprano who is developing a career as an operatic performer. She returned to Central City Opera this summer as a young artist, performing in the ensemble and covering Franca in The Light in the Piazza. Previously, Regina was engaged as an apprentice artist at The Santa Fe Opera. While working with the company , she covered the roles of Leila in Les Pêcheurs de Perles and Elvira in L’italiana in Algeri, and jumped in for a performance of the Offstage Voice in Jenůfa by Janacek. She also performed in the Apprentice Artists Scenes Showcase, singing excerpts of Rusalka, Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes, and Gilda in Rigoletto. A highlight of her time as an apprentice was performing in concert with Renée Flemming as a featured soloist in Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music.

Before her summers at Santa Fe, Miss. Ceragioli was a studio artist with Central City Opera in Colorado. During her time there, she sang the role of Elaine in John Musto’s Later that Same Evening, and performed a variety of opera scenes from operas such as La Bohème (Mimi), L’elisir d’amore (Adina), Don Giovanni (Donna Anna), and Idomeneo (Elettra). An invested interpreter of American music, she also had the pleasure to perform a recital program featuring the Emily Dickinson songs of Aaron Copland and Samuel Barber’s Hermit Songs.

A Chicagoland native, Regina received her Masters of Music from Northwestern University. Roles from her time there include the title role in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah, La Contessa in Le Nozze di FIgaro, Kitty Hart in the Chicago premier of Heggie’s Dead Man Walking, and Isabelle/Madeline in The Face on the Barroom Floor. While achieving her Bachelor of Arts degree from Butler University in Indianapolis, she performed the roles of Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief, and Josephine in HMS Pinafore. In her senior year, Regina performed Strauss’ Vier Letzte Lieder with the Butler University Orchestra after winning their concerto competition.
